MUGHLAI JADAU :)

Hey Jewellery Lovers
Happy Winters!!! Hope you all are enjoying the wedding season!!!
Well! I know my headline is a little funny, as it reminds us of tasty Indian Mughlai food.(Mughlai kofta, Dal Mughlai.....and so on). My mouth has started watering as I am writing this, and I guess so will be yours. So, first go ask your partners for dinner tonight. (O please Avinash! Take me for a Mughlai dinner tonight). hahaha

Anyways, lets start with my topic today(still waiting for Avinash's reply)...ahem ahem...

Jadau jewellery that is considered to be the traditional jewellery was brought to India by the Mughals. Each piece is inspired by the regality of the Mughal Dynasty teamed with gemstones and Kundan stones. It is unique and of a kind in itself and is mainly worn on various auspicious occasions in India, especially in the states of Rajasthan and Gujrat.

Jadau work is the most complicated and difficult among all types of jewellery. It requires a lot of handwork and is made using pure 24kt gold. It is created in Jaipur, Ahmadabad and many other cities, but it has originated from Bikaner. The speciality of Jadau work is the oldest and still remains the choice of Jewellery lovers.

Emerald and Ruby are the most commonly used stones in Jadau, giving it a green and red colour. Precious stones like uncut diamonds(Polki) and blue sappires are also a special feature. Meenakari (enamel) art work is also done, mainly to add grandeur and colour. Mostly, pearls and gold balls are used as strings for a necklace. Highest care and attention is given to every detail of the piece.

Jadau jewellery has become very popular among the brides these days. It gives a very grand and heritage look when worn. It adds glamour to every occasion and makes you feel like a queen:)

So, what are you waiting for? Go, get up and bring a beautiful piece of Jadau necklace home and add heritage style to your look.

And most importantly.....Avinash said YES for dinner...yeyyyyy...... hehehe

Thank you

Happy Diwali!

The festive season may give you a lot of reasons to go overboard with your jewellery needs. But I suggest you go traditional yet stylish this Diwali. According to me, nothing beats your mother’s vintage neckpiece, gold jhumkis and chaandbalis.
This time Diwali also has a lot of shimmer and bling in store for you – from diamonds and jadau to fusion jewellery and of course gold!
So go raid your lockers this Diwali and bring out those sparkling beauties! Step out and make a statement.

Till then, wishing you all a very Happy Diwali. May this Diwali bring prosperity and happiness into your lives and lots and lots of jewellery in your wardrobes:)

TEMPLE TREASURE!

Hello jewellery lovers

The wedding season and Diwali both are approaching. And I am so excited. I love this festive season. Meeting people, exchanging gifts, card parties, wedding preparations, new clothes, beautiful jewellery and so on....It is so much fun. Diwali is the most awaited festival in India. It is definitely the brightest of all festivals. Every street, house, shops and corner are decorated with lights. It looks so beautiful and magical.

Flaunting diamond and gold jewellery is a part of every Indian festival and wedding. So, today I'll be talking about one of the most beautiful type of Indian jewellery, something that is both traditional and stylish and can also be saved and treasured for the next generation. It is known as the TEMPLE JEWELLERY. I think you should opt for it this season. It is now increasingly coming into the fashion scene with its rich aesthetics that resonate indianness.

Temple jewellery is generally large and chunky, with figures of various gods and goddesses in gold fused to or forming the pendant on pearl string necklaces

BEAUTIFUL RADHA KRISHNA PENDANT
In southern parts of India, when women go to the temple for prayers, they are also attracted by the golden idols inscribed on the walls. Centuries ago Temple jewellery was crafted solely for the purpose of adoring the idol. Later, bharatnatyam and kathak dancers also began to wear their imitations. With the spread of these dances, Temple Jewellery came into style and slowly also made its way into the world of Bridal trousseau. These days it has gained a lot of momentum on fashion ramps and bridal exhibitions. From necklaces and pendants to beautiful jhumkas, this jewellery is a huge hit among women of all ages and culture. In fact its unique design has made it popular amongst the foreigners as well.
Temple jewellery with its priceless historical value and intricate designs has captured the Indian jewellery market. These pieces of jewellery are symbolic of the rich Indian traditions and are unlikely to go out of fashion for a long time to come.

So ladies, if you are thinking of buying something different this Diwali, go for TEMPLE JEWELLERY. Add to your treasure....:)
Happy blogging!!!

Old is GOLD!!!

Hello jewellery lovers...!
Hope you all are well! But I was not. September- October was a bad month. I suffered from something very famous these days i.e Dengue. It was horrible. I wish I could completely eradicate it from the world. Yes! Dengue has gone international now.
First your body starts to heat up, then you have pain in the eyes and severe headache, then body and stomach aches, basically your whole body starts to crumble. And the worst part was that I got admitted in the hospital on the day of Avinash's birthday. I had planned so much but all in vain. Anyways, I am fine now and feel that all happens for good. So, its OK.

Today I'll be talking about GOLD jewellery.
Gold jewellery has been one of the most prized possessions of the Indian woman since time immemorial. In the rural areas of India, people believe to invest in gold whether it is in the form of gold jewellery, coins or simple bars.
Even in southern parts of India like Kerala, Tamil nadu and Andhra pradesh, people are more inclined towards buying gold jewellery. It is their tradition of gifting their daughters gold jewellery when they get married.
But these days, others are also buying gold. You know why? First, they are back in fashion and second, that Indian tradition is still alive. I think people these days are liking the traditional stuff also. (Yes I know that gold rates also went down few months back.. hahaha).

During my visit to IIJS Mumbai this year, I noticed three different varieties of Gold jewellery,

  • Antique gold jewellery- This kind of jewellery has a dull and rough look, and this serves as the major USP of such jewellery. In India you find Antique jewellery in various forms, like with meenakari(enamelling), kundan work and so on.

  •  Yellow gold jewellery- It is most commonly worn jewellery by women as well as men in India. It has a bright yellow colour and symbolises purity and prosperity. These are available in all forms, be it, necklaces, pendants, earrings, nose rings, mangalsutra, chains, bangles and so on.

  •  Gheru gold jewellery- The difference that I could make out between Gheru and yellow gold jewellery is the colour. Gheru has a slightly orangish touch.. These days, it is more commonly worn by people of Rajasthan.

Ladies!, imagine yourself wearing a beautiful silk saree with such gold ornaments. It looks mindbowing.
So what are you waiting for?....get ready to visit our jewellery showroom.... SHREE DURGA JEWELLERS in Jaipur
And yes I forgot to tell you that we are inaugurating our showroom on 27th this month. So you all are invited. I'll also be posting a formal card the next time.

FOREHEAD BEAUTY!

Hello people.... Welcome back...
Hahaha, it reminds of the new Bollywood movie 'Welcome back' starring Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and John Abraham. It would fit in some of the perfect Bollywood masala movies, good timepass...had fun. Anil Kapoor looks amazing. I think I never told you that I am a huge Bollywood fan... I enjoy each and every movie... Hahaha..
Well! coming back to the topic. Today I'll be talking about Forehead jewellery. It is a beautiful ornament. It has always been my favourite. You know, during my childhood days, I was crazy about Maangtikkas. Heroines wearing maangtikkas attracted me so much. I used to make maangtikkas out of flowers and even mom's accessories. Mom's loombas  (rakhis for sister in law) looked beautiful as maangtikkas. Childhood days were so amazing. But they never come back :(
Well! we will talk about my childhood some other time.

Back to the topic, forehead jewellery has been an important part of our Indian culture since ancient times...The centre of the forehead i.e between the eyebrows is also known as Ajna Chakra or Third Eye. It energises the pituitary gland and is also important for the endocrine and nervous system. It is believed that this chakra helps us to attain higher spiritual energy.

Apart from its spiritual impact, forehead jewellery has an aesthetic effect also.
Today we will take a look at the various forehead ornaments.

MAANTIKKAS- Maangtikka is a beautiful piece jewellery worn by an Indian bride. It accentuates the beauty of the bride. The maang is a stringed portion that lays flat between the parting of the hair. And the tikka is the jeweled part that sits on the forehead.
Maantikka can be worn in various styles. It is known by various other names in India such as Borla in Rajasthan, neeti chutti in South India, and Chirri tikka in Himachal Pradesh.

BEAUTIFUL POLKI MAANGTIKKA
MAATHA PATTI- Maatha Patti ia another variation of Maangtikka.  In this, the Tikka lies in the centre of the forehead and is held by chains on both the sides. It is so much in trend these days. Most of the brides today are opting for such Maatha pattis.  Even the models are seen wearing it these days. It looks both traditional and stylish.

POLKI MAATHA PATTI LOOKS LOVELY

JHOOMAR- Jhoomar is another type of forehead jewellery worn by muslim girls. In this, the tikka lies on one side of the head. It looks lovely and worn mostly on the left side. As per latest tradition, Jhoomar can also be worn in the centre like the Maangtikka.

FAN SHAPED POLKI JHOOMAR
Forehead jewellery is so much in fashion these days. It can be made with silver, gold or Kundan polky. They look Beautiful. It is definitely a must have in your jewellery box :)

GIRLS LOVE PINK!

Hello Diamond Lovers...how are you?
I hope you all are having a great time.
It has been so long since my last post. I missed it a lot, was actually little busy with my CAD classes[Computer Aided Designing] and our jewellery showroom is also opening very soon. And I am so excited...yeeeaaahhh.
And now I am back with greater energy and research regarding jewellery.

SO LETS BEGIN!!!
Girls love PINK, whether it is clothes, accessories, shoes, toys etc etc. It looks very pretty and classy.
I am also a PINK lover. My wardrobe is filled with pink. According to me, other than just being beautiful, pink also symbolizes love, feelings. desires and calmness. And these days even boys have started putting pink. Guys are seen wearing pink shirts, formal suits and watches.
Well! you people might be thinking, why am I talking about the colour pink in a jewellery blog...??
Because today I'll be talking about PINK GOLD.
Jewellery is taking on a rosy glow these days. Pink gold also know as rose gold is back in fashion.
Oh! let me tell you, rose gold was also in trend during the 1970's and 80's. I and some of you were not even born then. But at that time rose gold was darker. And today its back with a softer and lighter blush.

WHAT IS PINK GOLD???
Rose gold or pink gold doesn't occur in nature, but is actually a mixture of pure yellow gold and copper alloy. So, people who use the term 'pure pink gold' is inaccurate.Pink gold is priced because of its shade. The highest carat version of Pink gold is 22K, which is also known as Crown gold.

Pink gold is catching the attention of the young generation. It is new and something different in fashion jewellery. Pink gold looks amazing with diamonds and enhances jewellery, also is a must in your jewellery wardrobe.
Pink Gold is also catching the attention of the brides these days, who are choosing it for their engagement rings.
Today even the APPLE watches are available in Pink gold and I also read that I phone 6S will be
launched in pink gold colour this year. See, technology is also getting pink now, hehehehe.

So girls, what are you waiting for??? Bring home a piece of Pink gold jewellery. I am sure you would love it......

THE COCKTAIL!

This is the season for statement jewelry.  And in my opinion, there is nothing more classy than a sparkling, oversize ring to make even the most ordinary outfit feel festive.
In 1930- 1940, women wore large, dramatic rings at cocktail parties to show-off their money and status. But nowadays cocktail rings are available in every price range and can be worn on every occasion, or even as a part of casual outfit.
Cocktail rings are flaunted everywhere by everyone. From a common woman to a superstar, from a casual kitty party to big movie premieres and award shows, cocktail rings have always been eye catchers.

Most of the cocktail rings feature coloured gemstones and elaborate floral motifs. They are a great way to add sophistication to any look. Ones with a big centre stone give a more formal look, while those with cluster of small stones are typically more casual.
Cocktail rings draw so much attention to your hand, that they can cancel out the effect of other jewelry. So, I suggest you to wear just one ring at a time. And they are usually worn in the middle or fourth finger of your hand.

I personally love cocktail rings. You can wear them all year round with any outfit. Short fingers, fat, skinny or long , you just need the right one that flatters your hand.

So come on pretty ladies, go and make a statement with these classy cocktail rings that never go out of style. Grab the attention and feel confident.

So let the bling shine...!

JUST EARRINGS!

As we all know that diamond is forever and is also the hardest transparent substance that exists. Chemically it is the most adulterated of all the gemstones composed of a single pure element. No matter diamond holds a dominant position in the market among the most valuable and expensive precious stones in existence and also symbolises strength and purity.
Diamond can enhance almost every ornament you can think of like rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces etc . Among the different ornaments, earrings are the most stylish and elegant  and enhance the beauty and endurance of the wearer.
The popularity of diamond earrings has increased nowadays and are most preferred by women. Their jewelry box looks incomplete in the absence of variety of earrings. They can be used as per tradition or even as fashion accessory.
Diamond earrings look beautiful with all kind of outfits. They can be matched with  indian wear, formal evening attire, casual jeans or even a business suit. Whichever style you opt for, diamond earrings represent classic style and elegance and can also be gifted to someone close to your heart. They are available in a variety of shapes and styles, all of which are eye catchers.

I personally love diamond earrings. I mostly prefer wearing 'JUST EARRINGS'. They look amazing. Well! I guess this is the reason Aavi gifts me earrings on every occasion. The first time we met after our Rokna ceremony, I was gifted earring. Then consecutively on new years, last time we met before wedding, just after wedding, honeymoon, Karwachauth, my birthday and then anniversary. Iam gifted earrings on all occasions....hahaha.

So what are you waiting for? Make your ears feel proud by wearing beautiful diamond earrings. Grab the attention and feel confident.
OOH LA LA!

LUCK BY FASHION!!!

January, February, March, April...............till December...all these months have a particular Gemstone, also known as birthstone.

Some days back I was travelling back to Jaipur from my moms place by train. There was this long faced, very talkative woman sitting in my cabin. The moment she came to know that we were in jewelry business, she began to show her not- so- good knowledge about jewelry. She was wearing a ruby gemstone ring. On asking about it, she said that it brought her good luck and carried protective powers.

Yes! I knew about gemstones but never thought of it. I don't believe in astrology that much but a lot of people do..even today.
So why not make your rings stylish and fashionable. Show off your birth months with such stylish rings. They will accomplish both- LUCK and FASHION.

But the point of concern is, what can make these rings stylish...???? oh yeess!!!! why not use DIAMONDS........!!!!!!
BLUE SAPPIRE- for september

GARNET- for january

EMERALD- for may

RUBY- for july

INDIAN DAILY SOAPS ROCK THE JEWELLERY WORLD!

When an elegant lady wearing classy jewelry is telecasted on a show, the audiences get swayed away by her beauty. Instead of the story, people are more fascinated by the jewelry and clothes.
Iam not at all a TV soap lover but sometimes do notice the jewelry the actresses wear. Yesss... they do set up a trend in jewelry industry....and people try to imitate them....

Recently, I asked my friend about what kind of jewellery she wants from her husband this anniversary.... and guess what, she showed the picture of her favourite TV serial BAHU. This elegant actress was wearing a beautiful CHANDBALI...
The next day I surveyed a lot of TV shows and noticed that most of the beautiful actresses were wearing these CHANDBALI's and JHUMKI's......

Yesssss... ladies.... CHANDBALI's are the latest fashion these daysss....they look beautiful, unique, classy and Indian.....and are a must in your Jewelry wardrobe..
So what are you waiting for..... go and just demand for these CHANDBALI's from your husbands.... I did it and Aavi gifted it to me on our first anniversary... #surprised...#wow.......hehehe..

THE PINK CITY

As, by now, you all know that I live in JAIPUR, more popularly known as the PINK CITY.
The first time I visited Jaipur was...yesss, to meet Aavi... ( let me tell you, AAVI is Avinash's nick name). I was here just for 24 hrs and at that time i was more in a shocked position. So, I couldn't explore much of the city. Yes, I could see Jal mahal, Johari Bazaar and The Great Hawa mahal passing by while I was in the car....but that was just for seconds. The only thing that attracted me at that point of time in Jaipur was THE WORLD TRADE PARK....hahaha..(I can shop anytime)...emmmmmm.....distracted....haha.
After getting married, I visited many places like Albert Hall, City Palace, Jal mahal etc etc....All were nice except for Albert Hall. Oh my God, I still remember I had gone to Albert Hall just the second day after coming to Jaipur. Ahhh... it was damn boring.... I felt sleepy with eyes full of tears. Uhhh! Well! any newly wed, married for 2 days would find this place boring.....hahaha.... Me and Aavi loved to go to Party places like Duplay. Lounge 18, Blackout...etc etc..
Coming back to the topic.....after some months, i found out that Jaipur is the GEM of all cities in the world. It is identified as the CITY OF GEMS by foreigners. Apart from its vibrant culture, the city is known for its Jewellery and precious stone work all over.
Traditional indian jewelry of the city attracts every individual especially women for its exquisite design, style and distinct work. Be it extravagant classic designs or diamonds, Jaipur jewelry is absolute top range.

KNOW YOUR DIAMONDS BEFORE BUYING!

All women are attracted towards the natural beauty of diamonds. Like women, diamonds are special and unique in nature.

For most people, buying diamonds is a new experience, but that doesn't mean it should be overwhelming. Understanding diamond's quality characteristics is straight-forward and simple.

I knew nothing about these characteristics before I opened my husband's GIA (Gemological Institute of America) books. Oh! I forgot to tell you....my husband is a graduate diamond grader from Gemological Institute of America....proud!!!!!!

THE 4 C'S OF DIAMOND
The most important characteristics of buying a diamond are the 4 C's-
  • CUT
  • CLARITY
  • COLOUR
  • CARAT WEIGHT
CUT : The cut of a diamond determines its brilliance. Put simply, the better a diamond is cut, the more sparkle it will have.

CLARITY :  Almost all diamonds have tiny imperfections. Diamonds with few or no imperfections receive the highest clarity grades  Example- going from high to low- F, IF, VVS, VS, SI, I.

COLOUR : A diamond's colour grade actually refers to the lack of colour. In other words, diamonds that are white containing little or no colour, receive higher quality grades than those with visible colour.

CARAT WEIGHT : This is the term with which you people are most familiar, but bear in mind that carat is specifically a measure of a diamond's weight. Higher the weight, more is the value of the diamond.

Well! I know, this is quite boring....but a DIAMOND LOVER should know everything about diamonds.
